Punta Cana Vacation - Cure for the Wintertime Blues.
Should you be looking for truly enjoyable things to do in Punta Cana, check out this webpage. That's the constant but we do try to vary our trips a bit each year. This water is called the Mona Passage and is a very important shipping lane for ships going on to the Panama Canal. The Dominican Republic is southeast of Florida, about 700 miles from the very tip. You'll also find links to the tour we took and several other ones that we are thinking about taking next year. The location is ideal for taking all sorts of excursions to see of the best places in the country. You can also check out the caves and the swim under a lovely waterfall. Now again I prefer the sea if I have limited time.
In the Dominican Republic, the best way to schedule a tour is to contact an independent tour guide, otherwise known as a tour operator. Generally, these companies provide a much more thorough tour than what you get if you just take a tour offered through your hotel. These Dominican Republic tour operators specialize in this type of service and therefore the attention to detail is usually much higher. Instead of going way out to sea, we hugged the shoreline and visited several interesting and out of the way (No other tourists to trip over!) lagoons and coves. The view back to shore was spectacular and I filled a couple of memory cards with pictures that I still need to download, sort through, and catalog (you know how that goes sometimes, sigh). You get a chance to get away from the tourist crowds and really discover the true Dominican Republic with an emphasis on its natural beauty and wildlife. It's just amazing what they do and the people there obviously love the guides for SeaVis. It is just an experience you won't get anywhere else and it is unforgettable.
